The Multi-Unit is an independent newsletter published from Coral Gables, Florida. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and the (very short) list of choices you have. The plain-English version is at the bottom.

What we collect

Email address — when you subscribe to the newsletter.
IP address and User-Agent string — captured at signup, retained for audit purposes (CAN-SPAM compliance and abuse prevention).
Subscription lifecycle events — signup, confirmation, unsubscribes, bounces — recorded with timestamps.
Email engagement — if we add open/click tracking in the future, this page will be updated first.

What we don't collect

No analytics cookies. No Google Analytics. No third-party trackers on the website.
No browser fingerprinting.
No purchase or financial data.

How we use your email

To send you The Multi-Unit newsletter — and nothing else.
To send the one confirmation email when you first subscribe (double opt-in).
To respond if you reply to one of our emails.

We never share your email

We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party — ever. Not with sponsors, not with advertisers, not with partners. The only third parties who touch your data are the infrastructure providers below, and only to the extent needed to deliver the newsletter.

Infrastructure we use

Cloudflare — hosts the website and runs the signup/unsubscribe endpoints.
Supabase — stores the subscriber list (Postgres database, US East region).
Resend — sends the newsletter and the confirmation email.

Each provider has its own privacy policy and security posture. Your email moves through them only to deliver the newsletter you asked for.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer and the proper RFC 8058 headers, so Gmail and Apple Mail also surface an unsubscribe button at the top of the message. Clicking it removes you immediately. You can also reply to any email with "unsubscribe" and we'll remove you manually within 24 hours.

Once you unsubscribe, your record is kept in a suppression list so we never accidentally email you again. We do not delete it for that reason — keeping it is how we honor your request. If you want it fully deleted, email hello@themultiunit.news and we'll handle it.

Your rights (CCPA, GDPR, and just being decent)

You can email hello@themultiunit.news at any time to:

See what data we have on you (which is basically: your email and your signup timestamp).
Correct or delete it.
Confirm we haven't shared it (we haven't).

We'll respond within 30 days. For most requests it'll be the same day.
